Trend of the Month: Stripes

In this post, I'm participating in Marionberry's Trend of the Month challenge. This month's pick was stripes, which is a personal favorite.

A while ago, I came across this ABS kids dress on clearance for $15 at Off 5th.  I absolutely adored the full skirt and happily plucked this deal off the sale rack.  When I tried on the dress, I soon realized the straps were too short and the bodice was more on the tight side.  I was prepared to walk away from the deal but then I realized the dress fit perfectly at the waist and had the potential to be converted into a skirt. I try not to make purchases like this too often since there's always the chance that things may not go as planned and result in wasted money.  What convinced me to make the purchase was the stripe pattern and the color.  Plus I really wanted to see the potential come into fruition.  I have still yet to get the dress converted into a skirt and will do so someday very soon. :)

As I thought about the outfit for this challenge, my mind passed on the numerous striped shirts I owned and focused on this dress.  Inspired by the skirt portion of the dress, I wanted to channel a lady like look.  I continued the blue and turquoise color combo I mentioned in an earlier post and added the gold chain necklace for a hint of edge instead of the predictable pearl necklace.

Please don't forget to stop by Marion's page to see how other bloggers styled stripes. :)

  1. I can't believe that's a kids dress...LOVE IT! The full skirt is super flattering also. Luky magazine this month named the skirt/blouse combo the most flattering look on any body style this month. You look great!

  13. Hi! You had asked me about coated jeans...to me, my coated skinny jeans fit about the same. The pair I have on are J Brand. It's my favorite brand of jeans and I usually don't have problems with the fit of their jeans. But this is the only pair of coated jeans I have ever tried on so I don't know if other brands fit/feel different.
