Floral Print for Everyday

Please check out Marion's blog for the trend of the month challenge and see how other bloggers styled the floral print! :)

The current Floral Print trend is an easy way to add a soft feminine touch to any of your outfits.  I had purchased this sleeveless blouse from J.Crew last year and had worn it on only a handful of occasions since I wasn't sure how to style it at first. After experimenting with this blouse thanks to this month's trend challenge, I think I will wear it more often since it's an easy way to feminize my outfit and add a nice colorful burst of detail. :)
Here is a close up look at the blouse. I love the brush stroke appearance, which softens the floral print even more.  I would have never thought to put these color combinations together but surprisingly the lavender pairs nicely with the dark green, white and orange that contrasts each other in a harmonious way.

Since the floral print is bold and pretty, I decided to enhance that print by pairing the blouse with neutral colors.  It's interesting how the print looks different paired with a warm neutral color like tan and a cooler shade like white.  This is the way I would style the blouse for work and for the weekend for the upcoming spring/summer weather:

Work outfit: J.Crew floral blouse  l  J.Crew No 2 pencil skirt  l  J.Crew pearl necklace  l Cole Haan pumps  l  Michael Kors rose gold watch

For the work outfit, since the blouse was so feminine I decided to add accessories (like the multi-strand pearl necklace and a rose gold watch) to enhance the lady-like look.

Casual Outfit: J.Crew floral blouse  l  Zara Kids white skinny jeans  l  Miss Sixty color block pumps  l  J.Crew necklace  l  Michael Kors rose gold watch

My dog decided to pose for the camera :)

For the casual look, I decided to pair the blouse with white jeans and color blocked shoes to give it a relaxed look that was simple and sleek.  You could also contrast the feminine blouse by adding a leather jacket.

If you are not used to wearing print and if the floral print is too bold for your liking, you can instantly subdue the print by adding a blazer or cardigan (pictured below).

If you ever wonder what colors would match a multi-colored top, the easiest way to match is to add a neutral color or pair it with a color that is already present on the blouse.  At least that's the trick I've been following whenever I feel stuck or want to try a new combination. :)

How have you been rocking the floral trend this season?
