Zara Wish List

As part of my 2013 Fashion resolution, I have purchased four items so far.  A C wonder shirt, an Anthropologie  sweatshirt dress, J.Crew Denim Jacket and School Boy Blazer. I have yet to post about the my recent J.Crew order as I am still debating whether to keep the School Boy Blazer.

In the meantime, I was browsing through the Internet when the following pieces from Zara caught my eye.  Oh how I wish I didn't have the resolution right now so I could buy all of these items. *trying hard to exercise restraint*

I think my fashion style is evolving again and I find myself gravitating towards more loose fitting clothes that can be worn in casual settings.  In the past I stuck to more figure fitting (hopefully flattering) clothes...but as I am journeying into my 30s I've noticed that my body is not as slim as it used to be.  When I look back at my photos from my early 20s I envy how I was able to eat anything and not be able to hit the gym. Now....I find that's a different story.  It seems like the food I eat likes to stick around on a more permanent basis.

Is your fashion style evolving?

My Favorite Shirt

Do you have a favorite shirt?  I do.  No matter how many times I've purged my closet, this shirt has made the cut and has stayed a constant for years (I think for 5 years!).  Its plaid is simple, the colors are minimal, it matches virtually everything, and it still fits like a glove.   I love it when pieces last for more than one season.  I think the timeless style and quality is worth the investment.  :)

Sometimes you need a splash of Red

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!  In honor of this love filled day, I wore this red school boy blazer, which has quickly become my favorite go to style for blazer for its cut and shape.  I ended up ordering the camel colored one that recently went on sale. I know. Blazer obsessed right?  I don't know about you but when I find a something that fits my petite frame, I get super excited and stock up (if need be).

Even though it's still winter, I wore this outfit while running some errands.  Anytime the temperatures warm up a little, I'm quick to shed my bulky winter coat.  Plus I'm running in and out of stores and driving so a thick coat is not necessary unless it's frigid outside. Oh how I long for warmer weather to arrive.

When This blazer arrived, I was slightly disappointed that it was more of an orange red than I expected. That's what I get for not checking it out in person in store before purchasing it on online. Nevertheless, the color is growing on me and it does add a nice splash of color to outfits.

J.Crew Wish List

The weather has been snowy and chilly and in an effort to satisfy my curiosity, I stopped by J.Crew to gawk at the new arrivals.

Here are a couple of items that caught my eye:

OK. I love collar shirts and stripes...and when these are combined into a gorgeous sweater, I'm in preppy heaven.

I've been debating about getting a neutral blazer and I'm torn between this blazer, currently on sale, or waiting for a lighter colored cotton one to come available during the summer. What do you all think? Worth getting?

The store I visited had a crewcuts section and theses dresses popped out at me.  Unfortunately, they did not have my sizes in store, but  I couldn't resist being hopeful that these cute dresses could fit my petite frame.  While I was looking them up online, there were a couple of other dresses that I had to include on this wish list.

I love the color combination of yellow, gray and cream and I could envision how cute this dress would be with a denim jacket and flats for Sunday brunch.

This bold print is reminiscent of the woman's Jules dress.  This unassuming shirt dress silhouette has so much detail and style that it's hard to look away.

The dress is absolutely adorable but it had me wondering if the print is too kiddish for an adult.  What do you think?  I'd of course change the tie belt with a leather belt....I'm thinking a slim green one.

So simple but I can't get enough of stripes and chambray. Of courses, again I'd do away with the tie belt and substitute it with a nice colorful belt.

For now, I'll have to check out another J.Crew store that has crewcuts to see these dresses will fit.  'Til then, I'll just hope that they do. :)

Which should I choose?

Few seasons ago, I saw the J.Crew Field Jacket in stores and fell in love with it. However, it was too big for me and I had to pass on it.  This season, I saw the downtown field jacket in store and online (for $148) and saw that it came in xxs which fit my narrow shoulders!

There are days when I want to pull the trigger and buy the jacket at full price but the frugal side of me is telling myself to be patient and wait and see if a sale will happen soon. In the meantime, I was debating between the two colors and needed your help in deciding between....

The Mossy Brown?

Or the Deep Navy?

Both colors look amazing and I could imagine both in my closet since both colors are very complementary (in my opinion).  When I look at the jackets, the mossy brown looks more casual and rugged and the deep navy looks a little more polished.  Do any of you own the downtown field jacket? If so how do you like the jacket?

Which color do you recommend that I get?

On a side note...I giggled to myself because when I was skimming through the J.Crew website, I thought I read Downton field jacket.  Can you tell I have Downton Abby on my mind?  Any other Downton Abby fans out there?
